Report for 26th June 2004

 

The club visited Leighton Buzzard for an invitation trophy meet and managed to beat the home team into second place. This was achieved with a number of the swimmers competing in their least preferred disciplines.

 

The under 13 years relay teams broke the club records in the 4 x 25m freestyle events. The squads being Sarah Hpa, Chloe Errington, Lisa Patrick and Rachel Hpa for the girls in 1m 9.12s and Edward Baxter, Daniel Heath, Kieran Woods and Carl Adamson for the boys in 1m 5.07s.

 

Individual swims saw 15 personal best times set. Two personal best times were set by each of Ben Flaherty in the breaststroke and the butterfly, Duncan Scott in the breaststroke at both 50m and 100m distances, Jonathan Fields in the freestyle and individual medley and William Jones in the butterfly and individual medley. Not to be outdone by the boys the girls competed well with sisters Rachel and Sarah Hpa beating their best times in the breaststroke and butterfly respectively. Marie Patrick bettered her personal best for the breaststroke with Rosalind Bray performing in the backstroke, Alison Reynolds in the freestyle, Charlotte Errington in the butterfly and Sasha Woods in the individual medley. The times set by Charlotte, Ben, Jonathan, William and Duncan also gave them first place in the event.

 

The 15 years relay teams won their freestyle events with Rosalind Bray, Charlote Errington, Lisa Patrick and Natasha Barton competing for the girls and Daniel Heath, Carl Harris, Jonathan Fields and Kieran Woods for the boys. The club also won the final event of the gala, the mixed squadron relay.

 

Carl Harris faired well in the individual events taking three first places, being in the backstroke, freestyle and butterfly. In the breaststroke Rosalind Bray won her age group event. Sisters Chloe and Charlotte Errington took first place in their ages in the freestyle and butterfly respectively. Natasha Barton won the individual medley event and in the backstroke Marie Patrick and Daniel Heath won their age groups events.
