St Neots Novice Gala - 19th June 2004

The club visited St Neots for their invitation novice gala and came away as winners, having been placed first in 23 of the 43 events. During the competition 18 personal best times were set.

The squad won every relay. Being mixed sex events rather than the normal single sex, this added to the uncertainty of the outcome right up to the finish line, depending upon the team mix.

It proved to be a good meeting for families with individual personal best times being set by Stephen Willcox in two individual medley events and the breaststroke, with brother David performing in the freestyle. David also recorded a first in the individual medley. Jake Medrek beat his previous times in the backstroke and butterfly while sister Libby beat her previous best in the individual medley event. Eve Butler beat her breaststroke time and sister Alice bettered her backstroke time and also won the butterfly event for her age group. The freestyle saw Ashling Baggeley beat her previous best time with sister Kirsten performing in the backstroke.

Other best times were set by Elliot Admonson in the backstroke and freestyle disciplines and Lauren Gillies, Douglas Howard and Marie Patrick in the freestyle events. Marie also won the individual medley for her age group. The list of personal best times is completed with Hannah Howitt beating her individual medley time and Robyn Varley her backstroke time.

Further wins in individual events were recorded by Rachel Hpa in the butterfly and breaststroke, Chloe Errington and Robert Yates in freestyle, Ben Flaherty in breaststroke and Paul Harvey in backstroke.
