Home C Grade Gala
The club hosted a C Grade gala at Stantonbury Campus and fielded two teams.
The yellow team returned 20 wins with 14 personal best times being set while the blue team won 17 events and notched up 16 personal best times, one of them also setting a new club record.
The various relay races saw the combined efforts record wins for 15 out of a total 17 events.
Alice Butler beat her personal best time in the 25m butterfly and broke the club record for her age in a time of 18.02s.
A number of brother and sister combinations competed in the two teams. The successful families included Charlotte and Chloe Errington. Charlotte won the butterfly event in her age group while Chloe won her backstroke in a new personal best time. Jake, Joe and Libby Medrek shone with Joe setting personal best times in the freestyle and butterfly. In the breaststroke events Jake won his and Libby won hers with a new personal best time. Alison and Kelly Reynolds set new personal best times in their backstroke events, with Alison winning her event. Both Kieran and Sasha Woods won two events each. Keiran set personal best times with both of his.
Personal best times were set in the butterfly events by Frances Merridan, Matthew Rutherford and Harry Simpson. Harry also bettered his freestyle time. Backstroke proved to be successful for Scott Sharples and Callum Tierney, both bettering their personal best times. In the breaststroke personal best times were set by Francesca Amoroso, Loren Keighley, Hannah Wilson, Jonathan Fields and Joe Rice. Most personal best times were set in the freestyle events with the in form swimmers being Ellen Axon, Evie Butler, Elizabeth Read, Robyn Varley, Edward Baxter, Paul Harvey, Dominic Leydon, Thomas Moore, Elliot Moulder and Robert Yates.
Wins for their respective team came from Carl Harris and Sarah Hpa in the backstroke events, Ben Flaherty and Rachel Mason in the breaststroke and Daniel Heath, Lisa Patrick and David Willcox in the freestyle. Louisa Prentice added two wins to her team’s tally in the breaststroke and freestyle events.
