Novice - Stantonbury

The start of another season of swimming saw the club hosting an invitation novice meet. An interesting start in that seven clubs turned up to compete. The resulting solution saw all events being swum in two heats, so curtailing the programme owing to time constraints.

Three club records were broken by the relay squads, being the 9 years boys 4 x 25m freestyle, 11 years girls 4 x 50m medley and 9 years boys 4 x 25m medley. Relay wins also came from the 11 years boys 4 x 50m medley and 13 years girls 4 x 50m freestyle.

Individual wins were achieved by David Wilcox in the 50m backstroke (42.06s), Lisa Patrick in the 50m butterfly (38.06s) and Ben Flaherty in the 25m breaststroke (24.38).

Other performing swimmers that beat their previous personal best times were freestylers Hannah Scoltock, Stephen Willcox, Charlie Bateman and Jonathan Foster. Breaststroke PBs were achieved by Kirsty Rice, Robert Yates, Marie Patrick and Kirsten Baggeley. The lone butterfly success came from Gareth Willcox while the backstroke proved favourable for Chelsey Hawkins, Caroline Bateman, Stephen Willcox and Georgia Baxter.
